Suggestions on concern for e-mail address change:
You might hesitate to switch access providers because you would lose your long-time e-mail address. Here is a partial solution.
For example, AOL has a light usage plan. 3 hours for $4.95 per month. This would probably give you sufficient time for e-mail access. For web surfing, you can use free services. After a few months or possibly a year later, you could decide whether to discontinue even this light usage plan too. It is not a good idea abruptly to quit the current service. Most other internet providers have comparable plans.
Also, with a free ISP in place, AOL users can access their e-mail accounts at AOL's web home page by way of a regular browser like Microsoft's Internet Explorer without using AOL's software. They just need their Screen Name (membership ID) and Password to log in. This way, even the 3 hours' time would not be spent at all. All that is needed is the minimum membership. Again, most other access services have similar options of web-based e-mail access available at their home pages.
